As a children’s photographer, I know just how important it is to get your child into something they will not only be comfortable in but also love. Staying ahead of all of the current and future trends is also something that can be daunting. Finding places to shop for your little one can be difficult. Sprout Virginia Beach may be the answer to all of your worries!
Sprout Virginia Beach opened its doors in 2009 and has a great origin story. This shop was created by a Virginia Beach mom, Natalie, who spent a lot of money on clothes her kids couldn’t wear after a few months. As I’m sure you know, your children will grow before you know it. But, unfortunately, all of those clothes cycle through their closets just as quickly. Natalie was tired of the amount of waste we create by constantly cycling through baby clothes and the materials it takes to make them. From there, Natalie decided it would be awesome if a brand were dedicated to upcycling gently used, trendy clothing. Thus, Sprout was born.
Sprout Virginia Beach offers a variety of clothing options, including but not limited to:
You can choose the items you like from various styles and colors. The adorable prints and patterns go unmatched! Of course, prices for each type of item vary but expect to pay the price relative to what you typically see in the store. For example, a pair of boy’s shark swim trunks run around $35, and a girl’s pink tank top is about $25. Typically, you can check out the sale section on the website and snag some excellent finds. I have seen everything there, from shoes to dresses, even baby blankets.
In addition to baby clothing, the store also sells items in tween sizes. Sprout chooses their items by their quality and brand. Here, everything is clean and on-trend with what is currently in fashion. Consignment acceptance depends on the season and business needs. Of course, your children will need certain items more than others, depending on the time of year. However, you can order brand new clothing with tags online (or via pickup when available), but consignment is in-store only.
If you love this store and want to own more items from it, you can sign yourself up for a registry. Then, your friends and family can all view the things you have selected and will be able to purchase them for you with ease.
Speaking of consignment, are you curious about how it works? Sprout Virginia Beach only accepts clothing based on the season. Sprout team members can only accept up to 20 consignment items (including up to 2 pairs of shoes) per household every two weeks. Make sure to choose your best items because you will have to limit yourself to bringing only 30 items for the team to review.
After choosing which items to bring to the store, they must be freshly laundered, wrinkle-free, and free from fragrances, odors, and pet hair. Additionally, shoes must have little to no wear and tear and be free from scuffs and debris. While items do not need to be put on hangers to be reviewed, they must be folded flat in a bin or box. You may not bring the items in a trash bag. All buttons must be buttoned, zippers zipped, snapped snaps, and velcro velcroed. High-end brands will also be accepted, and you can call the store to ask about specific brands if you have any questions.
You will be issued cash after you sell your item. You also have the option to choose in-store credit. For that, you can use the in-store credit to purchase new or consigned items in the store, and you will receive 60% of your item’s sale. If you choose the cash option, a check will be issued at the end of the 90 days at the consignor’s request for 40% of the sale item.
